UCLA Slams National SJP Event For Implying Endorsement

Campaign To Stop SJP Event Gaining Steam

The “National Students For Justice In Palestine (SJP)” organization is planning to hold their 2018 conference at UCLA in Los Angeles on November 16-18.

This group is associated with organizations in the Palestinian Authority such as the Palestinian BDS National Committee (BNC). The organization is rooted in hatred and terrorism stemming from US-recognized terror organizations in the Palestinian Authority and Hamas. The first and primary member of the BNC is the “Palestinian National and Islamic Forces” (PNIF) which is comprised of 5 US designated terror organizations:

  • Hamas
  • The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP)
  • The Popular Front – General Command (PFLP-GC)
  • The Palestine Liberation Front
  • Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ)

Following a call for UCLA to stop a terror-supporting organization from hosting a conference on their grounds, UCLA has responded to SJP with a cease and desist letter (pg 1, pg 2) to stop SJP from implying that the UCLA endorses the event through visual use of its name and mascot.

While UCLA disassociating themselves with a group that endorses violence against Israel is a step in the right direction, groups that endorse terrorism against civilians and are even financed and managed by US-recognizaed terror organizations have no place on campus anywhere in the world.

As of this writing, over 3000 signatures in the campaign to stop this event have been sent to UCLA.

National SJP has already reacted to UCLA’s demands claiming “discriminatory treatment”.
